Updates and Info for the Week

BUDDIES – By now everyone has been assigned a special “buddy”. The list is posted at the Rec on the Stingrays bulletin board. A buddy’s role is to get to know each other by spiriting each other with notes or small treats via mailboxes, and making sure you try to find your buddy during meets and cheer them on as they swim!

PARKING FOR HOME MEETS IS IN THE FOUR SEASONS PARKING LOT OFF OF CHURCH STREET. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE MAIN PARKING LOT!

PLEASE – Don’t forget your Stingrays Café donations for our home meet!

Dual Meet Info – “Packing” for a Dual Meet – extra towels, water bottle, extra “warm-ups,” books and other quiet activities, playing cards, healthy snacks, goggles, flip flops or crocs, and a blanket. Please put swimmer’s name on all items. The pool area is usually very warm. Therefore, you need to make sure you dress appropriately. Nothing is worse than being hot at a swim meet. It makes the time pass very slowly! Also, feel free to bring folding chairs to sit on. Upon arrival at meets, find a place to put your swimmer’s towels, swim bags, etc. The team usually sits in one place together, so look for some familiar faces. Have the younger swimmers write each event or event number on their hand in ink. This helps them remember what events they are swimming and what event number to listen or watch for. They may swim right away after warm-up or they may have to wait awhile. It is very important for all swimmers to warm-up with the team. After warm-up, your swimmer will go back to the area where their team is sitting and wait until their first event is called. This is a good time to make sure your swimmer goes to the bathroom if necessary, gets a drink, or just gets settled in. Events run Freestyle, Back, Breast, Fly, then Relays and from youngest to oldest and girls before boys (8U Girls Free, 8U Boys Free, 10U Girls Free, 10U Boys Free and so on). Make sure you and your swimmer check with the coach before leaving!
